I've always avoided standard "event" type shoots - you know, weddings, engagements, parties... They have a degree of expectation from the client that is hard to meet. You have litle control over the subjects, bugger all control of the location, the lighting is usually crap and even then often damn hard to correct. But, I've done a few of them in the last few months - a wedding, an engagement and a 21st tonight. I'm actually starting to enjoy the damn things. The courses are down, so maybe it's an area I might consider. OMG! I can't believe I'm saying that. I got into shooting models because it was much harder than landscapes. Who knows? Maybe the trickiness of events will drag me in. (The bugger of them is that you don't tend to produce a lot of stuff with universal artistic appeal - but I guess that ain't the point.)
On a completely different note, I have another trip away planned soon. It'll be a landscape opportunity for sure. But... it's gunna be a chance for me to trial run some camping ideas that I have. Let's hope they work. It would set me free for all sorts of amazing landscapes.
Stay well camers - share the love.
