Okay. I'm safe and so is my family (had a few worries about a brother who lives in the Lockyer Valley for 24 hours - but finally got contact.)
This will be a bit short because power is dodgy. It is indeed a Mega-Disaster - multiple towns are flooded right across the State (and it's a bloody huge State in terms of land mass). For those of you overseas, if you haven't heard about this, you should google it. There are thousands of amazing stories and images. The most horrendous situation was a little town of 500 called Grantham. May the good Lord console those who were there. They were hit by an 8 meter inland tidal wave. The place is - gone.
13 dead - 42 missing. That is unbelievably good given the scope of the damage - although my heart goes out to those who've lost loved ones and the several thousand in evac centres.
I'm thanking my lucky stars that I have food, water (which is getting a bit tight) and have lost nothing! We have another meter of water raises in the river due tonight, but it's less than orginally expected.
Stay well campers, say a prayer for a Queenslander!

****UPDATE:*****
We have a cyclone predicted for the 28th of this month. I kid you not - not dramatising here. The ground is so full of water, I can't begin to imagine what that is going to bring - let's forget the wind and other damage for a moment. Even us dumb Ozzies are started to feel dejected. Maybe it will wash the snakes and stuff away - beats me. This not religious man is starting to prey.
Wish the poor buggas in Queensland luck - I think they'll need it.
